Screens Connect 1.x – End Of Service [Updated]

Update: the Screens Connect Service 1.x has now reached End Of Service and is no longer available. Please update to Screens 2 for iOS and Mac, which are free updates. You’ll find more details below.

Most of you are aware that we have released our Screens 2.0 family last February and that it is not compatible with Screens Connect 1.x, which uses a totally different system to make your computer reachable outside its local network.

If you are still using Screens 1.x, we urge you to upgrade (for free) to Screens 2.1, which requires Screens Connect 2.1. Screens 2.1 is a great update compared to version 1.x and we’re convinced you’ll love the app. Be aware, however, that Screens 2.1 requires iOS 5.0 or later.

As for Screens 2.1 for Mac, it still requires OS X 10.7 Lion or later.

That being said, we have to move forward and for that reason, we will be shutting down the Screens Connect 1.x service on December 31, 2012.

This means that although you’ll still be able to use Screens 1.x (for whatever reason) you won’t be able to use the Screens Connect 1.x service any longer in 2013.

On a side note, we’re working hard on Screens 3.0. We completely re-wrote the app from scratch and will take advantage of all the new goodies that iOS 6 provides. You’ll love it.

Stay tuned for more about Screens 3.0!

Can’t wait for Screens 3! I have moved over to Air Connect (strictly as a result of the different “mouse” options). It is not NEARLY as reliable as Screens though. I do, however, have fat fingers, so sometimes the “touch” as opposed to having a mouse (like log-me in and Air Connect) help with; e.g. I can click and drag ANYWHERE on the screen to move the pointer. This allows me to be much more accurate.

Can’t wait to see what you guys rip in Screens 3 though. I’m sure you’ll make me switch back!
